Garden Design by Lucy Cook

Good garden design is accessible to everyone and a clear plan is undoubtedly the foundation of a great garden.  If you've just moved house and look out onto a builder's blank canvas - do not despair!   I particularly help clients who don't know where to start.

Keeping a lid on the cost:
There are many ways to manage your budget, from buying and planting yourself, to phased plans that allow you to build your garden over a number of seasons.  For a more instant effect, I have worked with a number of landscape contractors in Northern Ireland that I would be happy to recommend.

Tried and trusted:
I won't be sending you off on a wild goose chase for rare and unusual plants unless that's what you want.  I'll use plants with the Royal Horticultural Society's "Award of Garden Merit" wherever possible.

The extras:
A new garden is about more than plants.  Hard landscaping, turf or grass seed, lighting and water features all contribute to the finished design. My plans give you the information you need to obtain quotes or instruct the contractors you already know and trust.

Bespoke craftmanship:
I strongly support and promote the work of talented craftsmen in preference to sourcing mass commercial imports. I can recommend a portfolio of excellent companies to provide detailed workmanship in glass, metal and wood.

The result:
The gardens that I have helped to create cover a range of styles and uses, from relaxed country planting to minimalist contemporary statements, from the creation of a home-teaching garden to the re-styling of a mature garden when the children finally left home.  Each one is unique and all adored by their new owners.
